LURE

Two Brothers, Jonah and Peter accidentally awaken an ancient supernatural presence in 1950s Norfolk. Washed ashore after a devastating shipwreck, Jonah must raise the alarm to save his brother, still lost at sea…

My most ambitious project to date, ‘Lure’ was truly a labour of love from all those involved. Despite having a shoe-string budget of only, that didn’t stop us from telling an epic dark fairytale, directly inspired by Norfolk Folklore.

Starring Reuben Larkin, Senan West (The Crown) and Leon Cain (The Witcher), Lure interweaves ancient folklore with personal themes of the challenges of sibling relationships.

Made as my Final Year project for the University of Sussex, ‘Lure’ is now being taken to film festivals around the world.

Much of the film was shot in Norfolk, capturing the rugged beauty of it’s iconic beaches. Due to saftey constraints, we were unable to film on an actual boat in the ocean, so we employed heavy use of VFX, and filmed the boat scenes on a greenscreen in my Family’s Polytunnel!

Due to the high number of locations, shooting ‘Lure’ was a consistently challenging shoot, and was the most difficult project I’ve ever directed. But thankfully, all of our hard work paid off, and I’m so proud of the film we created.

Our fantastic producer, Lewis Kerr, organised an incredible Premiere for ‘Lure’ at the historic Dukes at Komedia Cinema in Brighton. It was a fully sold out event, including a Q&A with the cast, and an after party event with live folk music. It was a truly wonderful day, and a perfeclt celebration of a years worth of work to everyone involved.
